As a result of this wondrous new development, we have spent the past month Going Places. Fitness classes, meetings, friends' houses, restaurants, outdoor concerts, coffee shops, the zoo--you name it and we're there. And each time we go somewhere, random people come up to us and without fail, they say, "Oh, he's so active!" On the one hand, I was expecting this because this, after all, is the same child whose prenatal kick counts frequently approached 200 movements per hour (a "really active baby," according to my doctors, might move about 50 times per hour.) On the other hand, if he's already "so active," what's he going to be like in a year, when he can, you know, move around OF HIS OWN VOLITION?
The other day, we were meeting up with a group of moms with infants at a coffee shop in a bookstore, and while all the other babies were content to sit quietly in their mothers' laps or maybe even take a nap in their strollers, Luke decided it was the perfect time to practice his latest skill: squealing. Loudly. So loudly, in fact, that a woman soon approached our table, played with Luke, and then commented on the fact that she just had to come over and see the "social" baby, whom she heard all the way in the gardening section. In the BACK OF THE STORE. Did I mention that there were ten other babies there? TEN! And Luke was the only one who was attracting attention based solely on decibel level.
I had noticed that with each passing month, the number of pictures we took of the baby were gradually decreasing. And then, BAM, this month came and he spent a ridiculous amount of time being cute, so now all of a sudden, I have almost 200 pictures to choose from for the picture part of this post. So...I know this is a little bit photo-heavy, but just go with me here...
As usual, here's the requisite crying picture:
And then...he found a new favorite toy:

And discovered football:
